Radioactive Dye and Pink Cars

Nathaniel took Zach in for his scans today.  I took the littlest Ingersoll in to have his tongue tie corrected (sans any Lidocaine because according to the doctor the poke of the needle hurts as much as the procedure itself.)  After the fact, I'm not sure Max would agree.  I held Max tight during the procedure.  It took 5 seconds to cut the web under his tongue…and the entire day for us both to recover.

Back to Zach.  Zach's already sunny disposition was made even sunnier after being pumped full of radioactive dye for his Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan.  The dye travels through the blood and collects in the organs and tissues.  It helps the radiologist see any hidden cancer cells the CT scan missed.  After Zach received his IV of dye he had to sit still in a room and stare at a wall as the dye was absorbed into his body.  He was not allowed to text, read, or watch TV.  The dye will accurately highlight the cancer cells as long as the rest of the body isn't moving.  Otherwise the images might blur.  Zach then had an MRI.

We pray the results don't show any cancer cells beyond the ones in the lymph nodes the CT scan found last week.  Dr. Zuckerman (or Dr. Dan as everyone calls him) will share the results with us tomorrow.

Uncle Nate and Zach took Oliver to Jabbers today for some playtime. Oliver decided he is no longer a fan of pink.  But Uncle Nate tried to convince him the construction hat makes it ok.

  1. He is such a sweet little boy! Pink was H's favorite color through Kindergarten ;) Praying for good news from the scans, and I'm glad the tongue tie correction went well!
